Position Location: 30 Frank Lloyd Wright Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48105
Days / Hours: Mon - Fri / 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
* Hybrid position requiring 3 days weekly of onsite work in Ann Arbor office *
Summary of Duties:
Manage Microsoft SQL Server environment supporting transactional systems, enterprise data warehouse environment and other critical business applications. Review and analyze business requirements and define system specifications. Install, configure, administer and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring system health and performance, to ensure highest levels of performance, availability, and security. Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations. Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end. Refine and automate regular operational processes, track issues, and document changes. Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement. Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities. Implement new database technologies introduced by SQL SERVER to improve performance and throughput of database and increase availability and reliability on SQL Server environment. Responsible for day-to-day database support and maintenance activities, such as database backups, restores for development environment to mission-critical production systems to meet or exceed business and IT needs. Responsible for ongoing database management. Setup and design backup and recovery solutions, according to disaster recovery scenarios, plan and document specifications. Provide support for the client applications and solve client issues.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field of study and 3 years of database administration experience with SQL server platform. Employer will also accept a Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field of study and 2 year of database administration experience with SQL server platform in lieu of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 3 years of experience. Employer will accept pre- or post-Master's degree experience. All experience must be post-Bachelor's.
Applicants must have demonstrated experience with the following:
2 years of hands-on production operations management experience with SQL Server 2016/2017;2 years of operations and management experience with data warehouse or online transactional environments;1 year of deployment and production operations experience with NoSQL and NewSQL platforms (such as Couchbase, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, MySQL etc.);database platform production operations experience with SQL Server 2012 - 2017;working on SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups (AAG) and Distributed AAG (DAAG) setup and operations;managing operations of large databases (5-8TB);batch and PowerShell scripting;production operations management experience with managing Greenplum environment; andproduction operations management experience managing NoSQL and NewSQL data platforms (such as Couchbase, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, MySQL etc.).
Any and all experience may be gained concurrently.
