Freelance Technical Designer Luxury Womens Knits

Our client is looking for a Freelance Technical Designer from luxury or contemporary women's working on sweater / cut & sew experience on luxury / high end garments. Initially working on fit comments for current collection. This will be a hybrid role - full time hours for a few months to start in Midtown New York. The Technical Designer supports the seasonal design and merchandising process by partnering with the Design, Merchandising and Production teams and managing technical design, from concept to delivery, for in-category styles to ensure on-budget, on-time delivery of quality goods.

Responsibilities:Product Lifecycle Management: Manage product life cycle from sketch through pre-production through production fit approval; Collaborate with Design and Production on apparel development in order to create cost effective stylesTechnical Specification: Generate computerized technical specification packages; Review and evaluate samples for spec, pattern, shape, and construction; Consult with Designers to work through complicated garment construction to establish fit; collaborate with Design to update measurements and specifications for the tech packSystems: Use PLM systemsCommunication: Communicate with overseas offices and vendors to identify and resolve issues with garment construction and production; Create and manage WIP report for development tracking and garment deliveryFitting and Specification: Schedule, prepare for, attend and assist with Fit Measure garments and organize for fitting; coordinator fitting schedule; Create initial spec to final full graded spec; Evaluate fit to determine manufacturer has met the requirements of the garment; Ensure all specs and detailed fit comments are conveyed to vendors accurately and on time.Corrections and Approvals: Utilize digital photos, technical sketches, detailed instructions, and comments from fitting to communicate corrections; Approve garment for production or reject sample and schedule follow-up fitting.Required Qualifications:

Experience and understanding of apparel manufacturing.Superior organizational skills and excellent communication skills; team oriented; highly detail oriented and meticulousAbility to multi-task and meet deadlines, balance creativity with technical capability, and interpret design sketches for tech packsExpert knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, silhouettes, color ways, sewing techniques, fabrication and trim; familiarity with print design and manufacturingBachelor's DegreeYears experience in technical design of women's apparelExpert in Microsoft Office, Adobe products, CAD and Mac computersIf you meet the required qualifications and are interested in this role, please apply today.
