Responsibilities:
The Vice President, General Casualty will be responsible for developing and managing a profitable portfolio of general casualty reinsurance business that aligns with the company's risk and return objectives.
This is an opportunity to have a significant impact at a market leading reinsurer. This individual will contribute to optimizing the portfolio to perform well throughout the market cycle.
Specific responsibilities will include: Manage and underwrite a portfolio of U.S. general casualty reinsurance business. Contribute to the underwriting appetite and build a profitable portfolio that will perform well over the long-term. Partner with brokers to determine specific requirements and structure appropriate reinsurance solutions to address client needs and add value. Conduct extensive analysis of primary operations, products, and management teams. Work closely with the actuarial team to analyze and price reinsurance programs with unique features. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and brokers to ensure the company is a market of choice. Collaborate with global underwriting team members to develop a consistent view of risk and provide seamless support and solutions to clients. Contribute to RenaissanceRe's knowledge and expertise in general casualty lines and inform internal stakeholders on market trends. Contribute to the ongoing improvement of RenaissanceRe's proprietary underwriting and portfolio management tools to enhance decision- making. Represent RenaissanceRe at client and industry events. Travel as required to support the business.
Education:
A college/university degree is preferred. Experience/Skills:
A minimum of 10 years' experience underwriting a wide range of general casualty risks including excess casualty/umbrella, general liability with some exposure to energy, environmental and workers compensation. A proven track record of managing a profitable portfolio of general casualty reinsurance business. A thorough understanding of the underlying business. Preferably, has gained experience as an insurance underwriter or as a facultative reinsurance underwriter. Established strong relationships with clients and brokers. A deep understanding of policy forms, re/insurance pricing schemes and the regulatory environment. Appreciates the role and impact of actuarial, finance and claims in the underwriting process. An appreciation of portfolio management considerations in the underwriting of business. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Personal Characteristics:

The full-time base salary range for this position is $230,000-$250,000 per year; base salary offered may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
