Position Summary:
Responsible for maintaining the security and safety of actively participating students and staff during the program operation, assisting with student transitions and coordinating the dismissal and transportation for the students transition home.
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
Patrolling of school interior and grounds during regular school hours or special assignments.Responds to and/or supervises calls for service that may include burglary, criminal mischief, and minor investigations, disturbances or disorders on school district sites, truancy, etc.Prepare required records and or offense reports and patrols on foot or by vehicle to ensure protection and security personnel, and school district-owned equipment, buildings, and or property.Enforces school or site traffic and parking regulations and may perform routine personnel accident investigations.Assist local law enforcement agencies as required or requested.Coordinates with appropriate educational staff, custodial staff, and operating engineer staff on security and safety requirements and procedures (e.g. science la safety, trade/ industry shops, storage, and exterior security lighting.Ensure sound visitor control procedures are implemented and followed.Ensure compliance with life safety requirements.Promptly reports loss due to theft, vandalism to risk management through the established procedures.Ensure compliance with safety and security procedures for all modular classroom, office and storage structures.Report all incidents and accidents within 24 hours to the corporate office.Adhere to the Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting requirements, which mandate by law all childcare personnel to report suspicions of child abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Qualifications, Skills and Abilities / Position Requirements:
Education and Experience:
•A high school diploma or vocational school training
•At least one (1) year experience in armed security or sworn law enforcement assignment.
•Ability to remain calm during a crisis.
Certificates and Licenses:
•Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.
•SBBC security training or Certification as an ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
•First Aid and CPR
It is the responsibility of the Security Specialist to complete and maintain all necessary certifications, within the proper time frame, as set forth by either the licensing agency, State of Florida or the YMCA of South Florida
