Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Cost Accountant to be based out of Harvey, Illinois supporting our Phoenix, Arizona location. Reporting to the Regional Operations Controller, this person will be responsible for the preparation, analysis and/or maintenance of accounting records, financial statements and will also focus on supporting Harvey operations on refining the activity-based costing model.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years accounting or finance experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you'll do:

Assist in refinement of Phoenix operation's activity based costing model and tracking or relevant work center expenses and variances.Support development, maintenance, and analysis of plant standard costs.Analyze standard to actual cost variances. Recommend corrective actions as indicated by performance to meet P&L and working capital targets.Perform financial analytics pertaining to month-end close.Participate in monthly operations accounting close and reporting activities in a timely and accurate manner.Other related duties as assigned.Maintain strict confidentiality of company information, financial or otherwise.What you'll bring:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.3 years finance/accounting experience in a manufacturing environment; cost experience is preferred.Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).Teamwork and project management skills, self-driven and accountable.All associates must embrace and foster an environment that supports our core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.Within 3 months, you'll:

Complete your Atkore Immersion ProgramUnderstand how your job will help deliver Atkore's Business System through Lean Daily Management and the Strategy Deployment Process.Gain an understanding of your team and the Operations Management team.Understand Atkore policies for accounting and internal controls, including GAAP.Within 6 months, you'll:

Independently participate in month-end operations close activities.Contribute to financial analytics pertaining to month-end close.Build and prepare general ledger entries and balance sheet reconciliations.Support development, maintenance, and analysis of plant standard costs.Within 12 months, you'll:

Assist in refinement of Phoenix operation's activity-based costing model and tracking.Analyze standard to actual cost variances and recommend corrective actions.Participate in yearly physical inventory.
