The VP of Business Development will play a crucial role in driving the growth of this proxy, leveraging the strengths of both organizations to expand our market presence.

Position Objective

Reporting to the CEO & President of the Proxy, the VP of Business Development will lead the creation and execution of a differentiated growth strategy and business plan for the Company's various business areas and product lines. The ideal candidate will excel in building relationships with customers, partners, and major OEMs, demonstrating strong external and marketplace orientation while effectively engaging with internal staff. Additionally, the VP will be responsible for working on congressional initiatives to advocate for the Company's strategic goals and navigate the regulatory landscape. The ideal candidate will be based in the Washington, DC Metro area, with regular domestic and international travel as required.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop and execute campaigns to identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities, focusing on both organic and inorganic growth, and fostering relationships with government and industry clients, U.S. and non-U.S.Lead the development and implementation of capture plans for high-value opportunities, ensuring timely delivery of proposals and compliance with requirements throughout the capture process.Build, lead, and mentor a strong team of Business Development professionals, providing training on capture processes and best practices to enhance overall team performance.Establish and maintain effective communication and relationships with stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and internal teams, to gather insights and ensure alignment with customer needs.Develop and execute organizational strategic campaigns and roadmaps, assessing budgets and long-range plans to align initiatives with the company's objectives.Secure and align resource needs, collaborating with subject matter experts, functional leads, and Program Managers to develop winning proposals.Develop and control capture budgets to ensure effective allocation of resources throughout the capture process.Manage and update the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to ensure accurate tracking of leads, opportunities, and customer interactions, facilitating data-driven decision-making.Brief capture status to senior leadership at specified milestones and when material changes occur, ensuring transparency and alignment.Conduct after-action reviews for all business opportunities, documenting lessons learned and identifying necessary adjustments to capture techniques and strategies.Identify and participate in marketing events, such as trade shows, that support capture objectives and enhance brand visibility.Assess and make recommendations for partnering with other internal sites where opportunities exist for new business.Represent the Proxy and effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, partners, employees, government authorities, and other key stakeholders.Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in business, aerospace, engineering, or a relevant field; an MBA is preferred.Proven experience in large-scale captures, Congressional engagement, and strategic campaigns within the aerospace and defense sector.Depth of experience in Business Development, including capture and proposal development/submission.Demonstrated success in complex negotiations that achieve win-win outcomes.Established network of senior-level relations within the U.S. Department of Defense and other government agencies.Experience working with U.S. prime defense contractors, particularly in ASW/USW environments.Background in solution-selling with experience navigating long sales cycles and multiple decision-makers.Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.Preferred Skills
