We are currently seeking a
Senior Accountant
to join our Accounting and Finance team. This role offers a dynamic and fast-paced environment with ample opportunities for professional development. The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the Corporate Controller, ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of financial reports, including financial statements, variance analyses, and ad-hoc reports. The successful candidate will actively contribute to achieving the team's objectives and maintain a commitment to safety and soundness, employing independent judgment and professional expertise to mitigate the risk of fraud or inaccurate reporting.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Coordinate and actively participate in the monthly close process, encompassing the preparation of journal entries (depreciation, payroll, prepaids, etc.), completion of account reconciliations, and updates to various monthly financial reports.
• Conduct monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and expense accounts to review financial results.
• Compile and analyze accounting information to prepare and record entries for assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses.
• Reconcile inter-company receivables and payables, ensuring accuracy across multiple entities.
• Research unreconciled balances and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Assist in tracking workers' compensation and auto insurance claims.
• Document accounting and control procedures, recommending financial actions through thorough analysis of accounting options.
• Collaborate in the annual audit process.
• Record banking activities and prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all corporate bank accounts.
• Review bank reconciliations to ensure accurate recording of transactions.
• Reconcile and code corporate credit card activity to appropriate general ledger accounts.
• Maintain fixed asset software and records, including fixed asset purchases, and depreciation and amortization schedules.
• Assist in the integration of future acquisitions.
• Track capital expenditure spend against budget and maintain CIP, fixed asset, and accumulated depreciation and gain/loss reports.
• Record and maintain monthly lease schedules and prepare lease payments.
• Address accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policies and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skill, and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
• 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Prior experience with account reconciliation is required.
• Experience with MS Dynamics or other large, automated accounting systems.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (Vlookups, SUMIFs, Pivot Tables).
• Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Enthusiastic, adaptable, and views challenges as opportunities for growth.
• Results-oriented with the ability to establish rapport with colleagues.
• High level of personal integrity to inspire confidence, respect, and trust.
• Ability to document finance and accounting processes.
• Creative and innovative problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel to other locations as needed.
