In this role, you'll be an essential part of creating thoughtfully designed toys that encourage children to see the extraordinary in the ordinary, the possible in the impossible.

ROLE OVERVIEWReporting to the Director of Accounting, the Accounting Manager will play a significant role in evolving the Melissa & Doug finance organization. This person will serve as a key partner to FP&A, HR and other functions and will be responsible for building brand new accounting processes and procedures.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the company's General Accounting and Accounts Payable functionsLead the monthly closing process, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and detailed variance analysis.Identify inefficiency in the close process and implement necessary changes such as workflow and technical improvementsResponsible for leading a team including motivating, coaching, training and mentoring team membersAssist FP&A in monthly reporting to ensure the proper reporting of transactions within entities, accounts and departmentsProvide technical accounting support including establishing policies, drafting technical accounting memos and implementing new accounting pronouncementsSupport the annual financial statement audit and ensure appropriate controls over accounting and financial reportingPartner with various functions and business owners to drive key system implementation initiatives and improvementsPartner with the Spin Master Accounting team and broader Finance function to integrate processesQualifications:

7-10 years of relevant experience; ideally includes experience within a public companyBA/BS in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required, CPA preferredExperience with complex ERP systems such as Oracle Fusion or SAPStrong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, SOX, and SEC reporting requirementsExperience creating, implementing, managing, and monitoring effective internal controlsPassionate about leading change and solving problemsExceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlinesStrong analytical and problem solving skillsSelf-motivated with desire for continuous improvementWe expect all associates to model teamwork and collaboration, organizational awareness, be results focused and to have a growth mindset.
