Job Details

The Chief Building Engineer is responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, and efficiency of the building systems within our automated cannabis grow facility. This role requires a deep understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and automation systems, as well as a strong commitment to safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

Building Systems Management:

Oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and automation systems.

Monitor and optimize energy consumption to ensure efficient operations.

Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, building codes, and cannabis industry standards.

Develop and implement safety protocols and training programs for staff.

Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.

Automation Systems:

Manage and optimize the performance of the facility's automation systems, including environmental controls, lighting systems, and irrigation systems.

Troubleshoot and resolve automation system issues.

Project Management:

Coordinate and oversee building renovation and expansion projects.

Manage budgets and timelines for capital projects.

Staff Management:

Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians.

Recruit, train, and develop maintenance staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

5+ years of experience in building engineering or facilities management, preferably in a controlled environment or industrial setting.

Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and automation systems.

Experience with building automation systems and controls.

Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
