Our mission is to provide unparalleled patient care, educate and train emerging leaders in emergency medicine and set a national standard for quality and safety metrics by responding to the changing needs of emergency healthcare through innovative research and systems development.Chief Purpose of this Position:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our dynamic Emergency Medicine team as an hourly Emergency Medicine physician at our VCU Medical Center campus and our community Emergency Departments in New Kent County and Tappahannock, Virginia. The VCU Medical Center Department of Emergency Medicine sees over 100,000 patients per year and serves as a level 1 trauma center and a comprehensive stroke center.
The VCU Department of Emergency Medicine also provides coverage for a free-standing Emergency Department serving the rural patient community of New Kent, Virginia, which sees over 15,000 patients per year and community hospitals in Tappahannock, Virginia and South Hill, Virginia which see 20,000 patients per year and 25,000 patients per year, respectively. The candidate will contribute to our mission of providing exceptional patient care with opportunities to engage in innovative research and high-quality education in Emergency Medicine.
Position Responsibilities:Clinical - Provide excellent clinical care by demonstrating proficiency in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of a wide range of acute medical and traumatic conditions. Provide efficient, high quality patient care that reflects current professional practice norms and skills and is consistent with accepted utilization guidelines.Education - Participate actively in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, providing didactic lectures, bedside teaching, and simulation-based training.Research - Engage in impactful research and scholarly activities, generating knowledge and contributing to advancements in emergency medicine practice.Quality/Safety - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and promote patient safety and satisfaction.Administrative - Contribute to administrative and leadership responsibilities within the department, fostering a positive work environment and supporting the growth of emergency medicine services.Required Qualifications:Unrestricted Virginia medical license or ability to qualify for oneBoard Certified/Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine; Fellowship training and/or additional subspecialty certification is desirableDemonstrated commitment to excellence in clinical care, education, and research within the field of Emergency MedicineStrong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative teamDemonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCUVirginia Commonwealth University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action institution providing access to education and employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, political affiliation, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or disability.#LI-KB1
