Hourly Physicians(VCU Medical Center, VCU Health New Kent Free Standing ED & VCU Health TappahannockHospital & CMH)Mission or Goal ofUnit: Ourmission is to provide unparalleled patient care, educate and train emergingleaders in emergency medicine and set a national standard for quality andsafety metrics by responding to the changing needs of emergency healthcarethrough innovative research and systems development.Chief Purpose of this Position:We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our dynamicEmergency Medicine team as an hourly Emergency Medicine physician at our VCUMedical Center campus and our community Emergency Departments in New KentCounty and Tappahannock, Virginia and Community Memorial Hospital, Southhill, Virginia. The VCU Medical Center Department ofEmergency Medicine sees over 100,000 patients per year and serves as a level 1trauma center and a comprehensive stroke center.The VCU Department of Emergency Medicine also provides coveragefor a free-standing Emergency Department serving the rural patient community ofNew Kent, Virginia, which sees over 15,000 patients per year and communityhospitals in Tappahannock, Virginia and South Hill, Virginia which see 20,000patients per year and 25,000 patients per year, respectively.The successfulcandidate will contribute to our mission of providing exceptional patient carewith opportunities to engage in innovative research and high-quality educationin Emergency Medicine.Position Responsibilities:Clinical- Provide excellent clinical care by demonstrating proficiency in theevaluation, diagnosis, and management of a wide range of acute medical andtraumatic conditions. Provide efficient, high quality patient care thatreflects current professional practice norms and skills and is consistentwith accepted utilization guidelines. Education- Participate actively in teaching medical students, residents, andfellows, providing didactic lectures, bedside teaching, andsimulation-based training.Research- Engage in impactful research and scholarly activities, generatingknowledge and contributing to advancements in emergency medicine practice.Quality/Safety- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes,participate in quality improvement initiatives, and promote patient safetyand satisfaction.Administrative- Contribute to administrative and leadership responsibilities within thedepartment, fostering a positive work environment and supporting thegrowth of emergency medicine services.RequiredQualifications: UnrestrictedVirginia medical license or ability to qualify for oneBoardCertified/Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine; Fellowship training and/oradditional subspecialty certification is desirableDemonstratedcommitment to excellence in clinical care, education, and research withinthe field of Emergency MedicineStronginterpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to workeffectively as part of a collaborative teamDemonstratedexperience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and studentenvironment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCUPosition Type:FacultyFull time equivalent:0.10Tenure: IneligibleRank: OpenMonths:PRNDepartment:Emergency Medicine - SOMSalary:$200/hrContact Information:Contact Name:Sharlene ShannonContact Email:sharlene.shannon@vcuhealth.orgContact Phone: 804-205-8928
