Job Description

Medline Industries just keeps growing and growing. In fact, we have grown double digits in 56 of the past 57 years! Due to our growth, we are adding a senior Java developer to our software development team in Mundelein/Chicago, IL. This position will be responsible for designing and implementing solutions for various business initiatives. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, pleasant to collaborate with, and constantly seeking to improve and expand their skills.

(This individual will be asked to work from the Mundelein office Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday and can work from the office or from home for the other 2 days). 

Responsibilities:
• Research, plan, design, code, test, deploy, and document high quality software.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects.
• Participate in code reviews.
• Adhere to established software development standards.
• Participate and foster DevOps adaptation by the team.
• Facilitate design meetings with users, management, and architects.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of software development practices.
• Engage in continuous improvement of one’s own skill set, both technical and non-technical
• Develop a solid understanding of Medline’s business domain and apply this to all software development activities.
• Collaborate professionally with customers and colleagues.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures and governmental regulatory mandates.
• Mentor team members to facilitate their technical and professional development, utilizing practices such as code reviews, design workshops, and knowledge sharing presentations.
• Drive improvement initiatives that help the software development team mature its practices, staying current on industry trends and best practices and promoting their use as applicable.
• Provide software architectural guidance to other developers.
• Collaborate with technical and functional teams on designs which optimize system stability, security, and performance.
• Research, assess, and implement solutions in support of business requirements.
• Interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
• Collaborate effectively with the software development team in our partner office in Pune, India
• Assist team in estimating development efforts, Identifying and managing cutover tasks.
• Provide off-hours support as needed, including participating in the on-call rotation.

Qualifications - 

Those interested in applying should be highly proficient in the following:

• 8+ years software development experience.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering or other related field
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate both technically and non-technically as needed.
• Expertise in object-oriented development concepts, design patterns, and practices.
• Experience working with Java 8 or higher.
• Experience working with J2EE (JSP, Servlet, EJBs)

• Experience working Spring frameworks, spring boot.
• Experienced working with SOAP and RESTful web service development.
• Experience in writing JUnit’s using Mockito and Power Mock
• Highly skilled in Relational data modeling and SQL, In depth knowledge on PL/SQL procedures.
• Clear understanding of DevOps practices such as automated builds, testing, and deployments
• Experience working with junior developers, providing design guidance and mentorship.
• Comfortable with agile development practices
• Highly motivated and dependable collaborator, adjusting approach based on audience.
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, prioritizing as needed.
• Experience with modern application architecture (API First, services back-end supporting decoupled front ends) deployed into cloud-based environments.

The following experience is also desirable:

• Cloud and container-based development and deployment required (Azure preferred)
• Oracle Database experience preferred.
• Docker, Docker Desktop, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, Web load, CI/CD, Jenkins
• Redis cache, Cosmos Db, Azure SQL server, App Insight, AIS, ACR, AKS, Azure api gateway etc
• Swagger/OpenAPI
• OData
• OAuth 2.0
• JSON, XML
• Splunk
• HTML, CSS, JavaScript
