Position Purpose:
The Home Depot Architecture & Design department is a key owner and contributor in the full end to end process of establishing a new retail store in the market.
The position ensures that New Store Site plans for Retail, & Special Projects are consistent with Home Depot Design Criteria, standards, and individual project goals.
Evaluating and determining the possibilities and limitations of a site, while striving to optimize the site plan to offer the best return on the investment.
Direct oversight/review of outside Site Development Coordinators & Civil and their deliverables, holding these vendors accountable for alignment to project scope, schedule, and budget.
Accountable for drawing document coordination with all internal HD stakeholders including Real Estate, Construction, Legal, ISE, IT, AP, Operations and Building Services.
Manages the site design process end to end with outside consultants.
Responsible for site plan development, focusing on principles of flow (both vehicular & pedestrian), development of a site operational plan that meets HD requirements.
Assists the Project team as appropriate in the review of change orders/dispute resolution.
Responsible for maintaining Site Design-related schedule within the overall project schedule.
Participates in & represents site specifics for annual update of the Design Criteria Manual.
Participate in project team meetings to ensure construction documents align with project goals.
Cohosts KO, 50%, and final plan reviews with the development team to ensure alignment with all project goals and coordination with internal HD stakeholders.
Participates in and holds SDC & Civil accountable for conducting timely and through meetings to identify all municipal requirements of individual Retail projects at the outset of plan production.
Holds SDC & Civil accountable to produce a coordinated drawing of the store & site layout of all Retail projects at the 50% Civil review to document that site systems coordination is without conflict.
Produces a Design Criteria deviation list (as appropriate) for leadership review and acceptance prior to finalization of site design documents.
Key Responsibilities:
Works with Real Estate managers and outside architects in managing project teams that include consultants.
Reviews architects' drawing, lend support and guidance.
Observes development of all assigned construction projects.
Hires and oversees contractors and related project consultants, vendors and suppliers.
Creates budget, monitors and manages project costs.
Monitors and maintains construction schedules.
Manages construction side of project due diligence.
Manages the construction execution of legal obligations and commitments of the company.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
Typically reports to a Construction Manager.
Manages relationships with various construction consultants, internal SSC departments including real estate, logistics, operations, and merchandising.
Typically requires highly developed interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive or controversial situations.
Typically faces situations that are unstructured and require original approaches.
Typically solves problems by considering courses of action within the framework of management' s goals and standards.
Typically expected to provide infrequent status reports to management only as appropriate.
Travel Requirements:
Typically requires overnight travel 10-25% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, fumes or odors.
Under regular pressure to meet deadlines, quotas and/or must frequently deal with difficult issues related to people or situations
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
2-5 years of experience
Experience developing and maintaining construction documentation that is consistent with corporate goals across multiple project types and locations.
Solid working knowledge managing consultants and related service suppliers.
Proven experience in innovative design, a focus on cost consciousness, consistent with corporate standards and branding.
Knowledge & experience working on multi-million $ capital projects.
Design team management experience in the retail store & facilities space.
Experience delivering Value Engineering thought leadership on projects.
Minimum Education:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Basic computer skills.
Contract document reading knowledge or experience.
