Leonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a full time Senior Toolmaker/Machinist for our Bridgeton, MO facility.The ideal candidate is responsible and accountable for producing quality work to prescribed standards, with a focus on continuous improvement to meet customer commitments on schedule and within budget. The candidate must have experience in sheet metal fabrication and advanced knowledge of press brake operations.Job Responsibilities
Follow written work instructionsWork under minimal supervision on duties and tasks that are frequently non-routine, adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needsMay perform more detailed tasks requiring deeper knowledge and experience in the specified processes and proceduresRely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goalsAble to effectively communicate with other functional departments, such as Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Sales departmentsResolve most questions and problems, referring only the most complex issues to higher levelsServe as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issuesBe a self-starter and demonstrate good decision making abilityMust maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety procedures including those which govern the handling of materials, chemicals, tools, and equipment (WHMIS)Job Responsibilities Part II
Proper use of required PPEMay periodically assist in orienting and training lower level employeesMay participate in LEAN Events, "Six S" activities, action teams etc.Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organizationAnalyze specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assemble parts to make and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools, applying knowledge of tool and die designs and construction; shop mathematics; metal properties; and layout, machining, and assembly proceduresStudy specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes productCompute dimensions and plans layout and assembly operationsMeasure parts to close tolerance using precision measuring devicesSet up and operate machine tools (e.g., lathe, milling machine, shaper, and grinder) to machine partsVerify conformance of machined parts to specificationsMay examine standard or previously used tools or dies and modify as appropriateMay develop specifications from general descriptions and make drawing or sketchApply mastery of skills in adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment, as appropriateComplete machine programming and set-up as requiredQualifications
