Interested applicants must apply online by visiting the Denver Public Schools job board at careers.dpsk12.org.About this job:The Senior Financial Analyst/Financial Partner is a strategic thought partner who uses financial modeling, financial forecasting, and trend analysis to provide advice, guidance, and support to a portfolio of schools and departments, performs strategic analysis related to school and department budgets, and directly supports school Principals and Department leaders in budget development and use of funds. Responsible for performing advanced technical analysis to solve business problems using advanced Excel, Google Sheets, and related methods. Directs and develops research methodology used. Analyze systems, programs, datasets and reports to enhance the efficacy of district programs, processes, procedures, goals and objectives. Create metrics, examine data, interpret findings and extract insights.Maintains proactive communication with key internal and external stakeholders; presents data and recommendations to practitioners, partners and district stakeholder in effort to reveal gaps and areas of improvement.Works closely with functional experts, provides mentorship and catalyzes strong collaboration among all resources involved.Provide guidance to department leads and managers or school administrative staff in the implementation and management of a comprehensive financial model for a department or school.Work with school and central administrative staff to increase community engagement with the school and department budget processPartner with both the schools assigned Collaborative Director and HR School Partner to create a leadership network.Facilitate regular meetings with department or school clerical, administrative and central administration staff regarding the financial health of the department or school, as well as facilitate discussion on upcoming goals, spending needs or changes.Provide training to department or school clerical and administrative staff; teach them to prepare for Budget Office financial reviews, project year end balances, prepare journal entries, make budget transfers and properly use petty cash accounts, pupil activity funds and procurement cards.Develop training content to be used in presentations to school or department staff during key points of the fiscal yearPerform other duties as assignedWhat Youll Need:Bachelor's Degree in business administration, accounting or finance; or equivalent experience.Five (5) years experience required in budgeting, accounting, and data analysis as well as research and evaluation skills utilizing automated systems (prefer experience in governmental accounting and budgeting environment).Experience in providing group and individual training to various employee populations.Skilled in using Excel pivot tables, graphing, macros, formulas and linking; Experience with Google Sheets a plus.Possess good oral and written communication skills.Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), as well as Google Suite.Valid Colorado Drivers License, appropriate insurance coverage and acceptable driving record for the past three years.Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.- Strong attention to detail.Effective communication skills.The ability to take responsibility for ones own performance.Work collaboratively with others on a team.Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and a fast-paced environment.Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multicultural environment with district and school leaders, faculty, staff and students.High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.Knowledge of basic accounting and mathematical operations required for the position, preferred.Ability to communicate various policies and procedures to school staff and department secretaries, preferred.Ability to perform detailed calculations and stay focused on the project, preferred.Possess mathematical and reconciliation aptitude, preferred.Ability to pay attention to detail and work on multiple projects at one time, preferred.Ability to work with time constraints and deadlines, preferred.Valid Colorado Drivers License, appropriate insurance coverage and acceptable driving record for the past three years.Ability to work with time constraints and deadlines, preferred.Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.Denver Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender expression, and sexual orientation), parental status, national origin, age, disability, genetic information (including family medical history), political affiliation, military service, or any other status protected by law or regulations.
