OverviewThe Loadmaster is responsible for monitoring and overseeing the loading, secure transport, and unloading of aircraft cargo. This requires extensive coordination to properly calculate and plan weight and balance distribution of cargo within an aircraft. They are responsible for completing daily duties involving safe and efficient aircraft loading and unloading.ResponsibilitiesOversee and monitor loading and unloading of aircraft.Provide leadership as aircraft is being loaded and/or unloaded in a safe and efficient manner.Verify the flight crew has easy access from cockpit to the rear of the aircraft following the completion of the load.Ensure that the load is properly secured.Communicate with multiple department personnel regarding aircraft readiness and positions.Provide timely updates to Customer and Management.Monitor movements of Customer aircraft to ensure timely and correct arrival.Accuracy when working with numbers is a must.Always maintain safety and security of the aircraft.Miscellaneous duties as assigned.QualificationsBe at least 18 years of age.Must be a U.S. citizen or show proof of right to work in the U.S.High School graduate or GED.Must be able to read flight plan activity.Must have knowledge of fundamental flight operations services and procedures for handling cargo flights.Possess a valid driver’s license.Must be able to obtain an airport badge with US Customs clearance.Must be willing to work occasionally in inclement weather.Must possess excellent communication skills.Ability to lift up to 70 pounds comfortably.Able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.Ability to work under stressful situations and tight time constraints in a fast-paced environment.Flight crew and customer relationship skills are a must.Must prepare appropriate documentation for flight handling.Must be able to perform weight and balance procedures.Required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules.Be well-groomed and follow uniform policy.Successfully complete a background investigation, including FBI fingerprints, criminal history, and pre-employment drug test.Preferred Qualifications:Previous Airline Experience with Flight operations duties and Weight and Balance functions.Prior experience with Korean Air Cargo Systems and Procedures.Language Skills:Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Write routine reports and correspondence.Speak effectively one-to-one and before groups of customers or employees of the organization.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Reasoning Abilities:Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Physical Demands:The Loadmaster on occasion may lift or move with help up to 70 pounds, and/or more frequently lift or move 70 to 100 pounds. The Loadmaster is regularly required to use hands, talk, hear, bend, stoop, kneel, and is frequently required to stand, walk, and move for prolonged periods of time while performing duties. The Loadmaster may be required to climb, sit, and balance.While performing the essential functions of this job, the agent is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The agent is frequently required to climb stairs, bend at the waist, kneel, crouch, or stoop. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.The Loadmaster is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and required to work in active taxiway and ramp areas with associated noises and hazards with aircraft handling. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can vary dramatically depending on location and time of day. During aircraft arrival, the Loadmaster will be exposed to a high noise environment for a short period of time. Hearing protection is required and provided.Fair Labor Standards Act Status:
