The Platform Excellence team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (XR) to improve virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) capabilities on Roblox. The team is dedicated to delivering superior performance, reliability, and user experience on all platforms Roblox runs on. This team ensures a seamless and engaging user interface that facilitates intuitive interactions, alongside maintaining high performance and reliability for efficient, glitch-free operations. Innovation is at the core of our work, as we continuously enhance features and integrate cutting-edge technologies to find novel solutions to problems.
You Will:
Bring a delightful XR experience to Roblox used by millions of players every day.
Lead the architecture, design, and implementation on the XR platform.
Partner with product and design leaders to bring novel ideas to life.
Continuously improve rendering performance for a truly immersive 3D experience.
Champion the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in XR development.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of exceptional engineers.
You Have:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in client software development with a focus on XR apps.
Passion for XR and emerging technologies in the space.
Experience building with OpenXR and related tools and technologies.
Curiosity to learn new technologies and systematically grow your skills.
Experience working with game engines and on rendering improvements is a plus.
Expertise in Roblox game development and Lua scripting is a plus.
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.
Annual Salary Range:
$189,110 — $233,840 USD
Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
