Job Description:

Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads - both students and employers - for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 28,000 students in 2019-20. Founded in 1968 as a part of the Virginia Community College System, Tidewater Community College (TCC) services South Hampton Roads with 4 campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, 7 regional centers and 2 important cultural institutions. The college had 3,203 graduates in 2019-2020, 40 percent of whom pursued degrees that would let them transfer to 4-year institutions. Of South Hampton Roads residents enrolled in higher education 36% enrolled at TCC. TCC's institutional accreditation is affirmed through 2027 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

This position will provide college-wide leadership and oversight of the process and procedures by which students may be awarded college transfer credits and credits for prior learning. The Transfer Evaluation and Credit for Prior Learning manager will serve as the point of contact to ensure that all transfer and credit for prior learning credits are accurately recorded on the student record and are in accordance with College, VCCS, and SACSCOC policies. In addition, this position will provide training and supervision for the other members of the transcript evaluation unit within the Office of the College.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply VCCS, FERPA and College policies, regulations and procedures related to student records and the transcript evaluation process.Knowledge and skills in the operation of a PC and variety of software programs (including Word, Excel, Access, Internet/Email) and data entry into a student information system.Skill in researching and resolving questions and problems related to incoming college transcripts, military documents and other forms of documentation).Skill in general clerical task specifically proofing data in various forms including electronic and paperSkill in problem resolution, project management, and communicationAbility to communicate effectively and explain detailed information and processes verbally and in writing.Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with faculty, staff and studentsAbility to work in a team-oriented environmentAbility to prioritize work to meet deadlinesExperience working in a customer-oriented environmentExperience related to transfer equivalency or credit for prior learningPreferred Qualifications:

Experience coordinating transfer credit or credit for prior learning at a college or university.Experience in a college Admissions or Registration office .
