Position Summary:

The University of Northern Colorado (UNC) is seeking a talented and self-motivated Videographer to enhance the university's image and reputation via high-quality video storytelling, ranging from commercial-quality campaign ads, social media clips, event captures, interviews and testimonials.

Reporting to the Executive Creative Director and part of a dynamic Marketing and Communications team, the Videographer conceptualizes, captures and delivers compelling video content for a variety of strategic needs, including student recruitment and retention, as well as alumni, donor and community engagement.

Job Duties:

-Supports the strategic goals and priorities of UNC Marketing and Communications and the University Advancement division.-Manages video projects from pre-production through delivery, including creative concepts and storyboards; scheduling, talent and location management; filming, lighting and sound, editing and post-production.-Collaborates with campus colleagues and partners; incorporates feedback and revisions to ensure finished content supports both strategic objectives and technical best practices.-Maintains department video equipment, including inventory, servicing and refresh schedule. Provides recommendations on future equipment needs and priorities.-Manages and maintains UNC's video assets and content libraries, including its online channels (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo), on-site repositories, backups and archives.-Trains and educates campus communications staff on video trends, best practices and technologies.-Manages and mentors student video workers / work-study staff, as needed.-Coordinates external videography vendors and services as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in video production, digital media, cinematography, or a related field. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience:

Minimum 3+ years of professional video creation and production experience, including filming and editing commercial-quality content for marketing, social media and paid media distribution.Preferred 5+ years of professional experience creating videos for the interactive marketing environment within higher education, including digital advertising, YouTube, social media platforms and websites; proven experience writing scripts and storyboarding ideas.

Technical-Professional experience filming and editing video content (primary and b-roll), including promotional ads / anthems, social media clips / reels, event capture and recaps, interviews, testimonials, news stories, etc.-High proficiency with modern video equipment (DSLRs, mirrorless, cinema cameras, action cameras, etc.) and accessories, in both mobile / handheld and fixed (tripod) environments.-Knowledge of professional lighting and audio setups for different environments and effects, including natural and artificial lighting, lavalier and boom microphones, audio mixers, etc.-Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects) and understanding of color grading, sound design, visual effects, and motion graphics.-Experience with web-based digital media production, including compression technologies, aspect ratios, file formats, web codes and accessibility standards.-Experience filming scripted content, including the management and use of teleprompter equipment.-Experience setting up and managing livestream video productions (both single and multi-camera), including familiarity with -streaming platforms, software and hardware.-Proficiency operating drones to capture aerial footage. Valid FAA Remote Pilot (Part 107) certification, or interest in becoming certified.
