ABOUT THE Critical Care/5W Intermediate Care Unit DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER:

BMCs Medical Step Down unit is a 27-bed unit providing care for intermediate level medical patients. Patients on this unit are complex cardiology patients, pericardial drains patients, TAVR patients, ventilated patients and patients transferred out of the MICU with complex medical issues.

Position Summary

As an RN in the Critical Care unit, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.

Job Responsibilities

Deliver nursing care in the Critical Care unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patientsCommunicate with various health care team members, patients, and their familiesCoordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleaguesUpdate and manage patient recordsEnter and interpret computerized data/informationFollow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organizationAssist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects

Job Requirements

Must have active or pending Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license or the ability to obtain one.1+ years of RN experience preferredCertification in basic life support (BLS)Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification required in certain unitsNursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 yearsRelevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areasEffective verbal and written communication skillsPhysical ability to meet job responsibilitiesBasic computer proficiencyFluency in another language a plus
