The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store.As a General Merchandise Expert, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:Create a welcoming experience by authentically greeting all guestsObserve to quickly understand whether a guest needs assistance or wants to interactEngage with guests in a genuine way to better understand their specific needsBe knowledgeable about the tools, products, and services available in the total storeThank the guest in a genuine way and let them know we’re happy they chose to shop at TargetBe knowledgeable of GM areas to ensure sales floor is zoned, in stock and accurately signed and priced for guestsAcknowledge guests as you complete workload with minimal guest disruptionEnsure regular and promotional signing is set accurately for GM categoriesExecute inbound, replenishment, backroom and signing processes for GM areasExecute processes including pricing, presentation sets, and inventory accuracy as directed by your leaderUnderstand how operational procedures impact shortage, profitability, in store replenishment and inventory accuracyOperate power equipment only if certifiedFollow processes accurately with attention to detailDemonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and complianceWork in a safe manner at all timesSupport guest services such as back-up cashier, and digital fulfillment processesAll other duties based on business needsWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORWelcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and other team membersAbility to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scannersWork both independently and with a teamResolve guest questions quickly on the spotAttention to detail and follow multi-step processesCapability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environmentWe are an awesome place to work and care about our teams, so we want to make sure we are clear on a few more basics that we expect:Accurately handle cash register operations as neededClimb up and down laddersScan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safelyFlexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays)Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperaturesAbility to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shiftFind competitive benefits from financial and education to well-being and beyond at
