The Reinsurance Center of Excellence is seeking a highly motivated individual to manage assumed reinsurance claims written through Navigators Re. The Reinsurance Analyst will work closely with numerous business partners including Legal, Underwriting, Accounting, Actuarial and Operations to ensure all claim files are in good standing and maintained to the standard Navigators Re (a brand of The Hartford) has set forth. This position has a remote work option.

The Reinsurance Claim Analyst is responsible for the disposition of the Company's reinsurance claims across all classes of business. The individual will handle new notices of loss, status updates, inquiries from brokers, reserve changes and billings from ceding companies throughout the and will identify unsupported cessions and escalate issues as necessary.

The ability to read and speak Spanish and translate to English is preferred.

Job Responsibilities & Competence

Proactive handling of assumed claim files from inception to closure, complying with all policies and procedures, while working with management and underwriting to make handling determinations.Review reinsurance contracts, policies and coverage parts, and draft articulate coverage positions.Cultivate relationships with appropriate reinsurer and broker contacts.Adjust and authorize reinsurance claim settlements within designated authority limits.Provide prompt and efficient service to the market and ensure the validity of claim payments and adequate reserving.Utilize in-house reinsurance systems to process data, payments, reserves and reinstatements, and to generate reports as needed.Reconciliation of balances to ensure accuracy in processing.Focus on the use of data for communications and presentations to management to assist in making claim and underwriting decisions.Develop and maintain strong relationships with Legal, Accounting, Actuarial, Underwriting, Operations and all areas of Reinsurance Center of Excellence.Perform on-site and remote claim audits and compliance audits.Participate in the evaluation, pricing, negotiation and execution of commutations.Assist in the reporting and billing of retrocessional recoveries.Work on projects as part of a team and take a lead role as opportunities are presented.Qualifications and Capabilities

Bachelor's Degree or International Equivalent required.Ability to read and speak Spanish and translate to English is preferred.Record of high achievement, self-motivation, and ability to multi-task competing priorities.Must be able to analyze and reason through reinsurance issues and make sound recommendations to management.Ability to interpret and analyze complicated claim files to establish appropriate handling of payments and reserves.Strong interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work across teams to create and maintain effective relationships with business areas and leaders throughout the organization.Strong written communication, verbal communication and presentation skills.Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.High attention to detail and accuracy.Strong critical reasoning, problem solving and analytical skills.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$62,960 - $94,440
