Lead - Cup Packaging/Machine Operator

Packaging Team Member

The Lead in a packaging room is the backup to the Packaging Foreman. He is responsible for the duties of the Packaging Foremen in his absence. The Lead assists the Packaging Supervisor in coordinating activities of workers engaged in the packaging processes, utilizing knowledge of the equipment, procedures and specifications. The Lead confers with Packaging Supervisor or Plant Manager to review schedules, specifications and priorities to plan departmental work assignments. In the absence of the Packaging Supervisor, the Lead plans, organizes, delegates and directs the packaging activities to maintain output and production sequence in compliance with the goals of the company.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

Understand written and verbal instructions to complete packaging of products. Refer to "Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)", Machine Priming, Basic Operating Procedures, machine Operations, and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP's).Responsible for monitoring , operating, and troubleshooting the packaging equipment while working efficiently and following all procedures for producing quality products according to customer specifications, as well as the following:

Able to operator various manufacturing equipment in /ass/high volume production environmentRequires the ability to manipulate small parts and gaugesAbility to use thinking and reasoning skills to solve a problemSet up machine at beginning of shift to ensure proper working orderPerform safety checks throughout shiftAdjust machine components according to finished product specificationsLoad Packaging material into machine throughout shiftStop and adjust machine in cases of malfunctions/jamsTroubleshoot problems during operationInspect and remove defective items or those that do not meet quality standardsClean machine, perform preventative maintenanceTest and evaluate products to verify correct weights, seals, film orientation, leakers, codes, labels etcDocument activities performed throughout the shift - pre-op inspections, quality checks, maintenance performed, maintenance needed, etcCommunicate performance information to other shiftsClear lines at the end of the shiftCross train in other work areas within your own department or possibly in other departmentsIf authorized, may require forklift experienceIdentify any processing issues and report them to other team members and Foreman.Act as backup to other team members in their absence.
