Salary: $110,000 - $145,000 per year

A nationwide non-residential real estate and property management group with over a decade of experience is seeking to expand its team by adding a Director of Accounting in the Detroit area. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in property accounting and managing commercial properties, including handling CAM reconciliations.

This hybrid position requires 3 days onsite and 2 days working from home.

Job Details:

We are seeking a seasoned, dynamic, and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Permanent HYBRID Director, Accounting - Commercial Real Estate. Responsibilities:

As the Director of Accounting - Commercial Real Estate, you will be responsible for:

1. Overseeing all accounting operations related to our commercial real estate portfolio, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reports and statements.
2. Performing CAM reconciliations and ensuring all related expenses are accurately allocated and billed to tenants.
3. Utilizing Appfolio or equivalent software to manage and track all financial transactions and reporting.
4. Developing and managing annual budgets, providing detailed forecasting and strategic financial planning.
5. Leading the implementation of new accounting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
6. Collaborating with senior management to provide strategic financial insights and recommendations.
7. Managing and mentoring a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
8. Coordinating with external auditors and managing the audit process.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for the Director of Accounting - Commercial Real Estate position will have the following qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A CPA designation or equivalent is preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accounting role, preferably within the commercial real estate sector.
3. Proficiency in Appfolio or equivalent accounting software.
4. Demonstrated experience with CAM reconciliations and commercial real estate accounting.
5. Strong understanding of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
6. Proven experience in budgeting and forecasting.
7. Exceptional leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring a team.
8. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
9. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
10. High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards.
