Are you an experienced Geotechnical Field Technician with a passion for marine environments? Are you ready to take your career to the next level and embark on a thrilling journey at sea? We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Permanent Marine (On Vessel, at Sea) Geotechnical Field Technician. In this role, you will be working on board our state-of-the-art research vessels, where you will play a crucial part in conducting essential geotechnical investigations and contributing to groundbreaking scientific research.
Responsibilities:
As a Permanent Marine Geotechnical Field Technician, your key responsibilities will include:
- Performing geotechnical investigations and inspections on board our research vessels, including soil sampling, testing, and geophysical surveys.
- Troubleshooting and maintaining geotechnical equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability during marine operations.
- Documenting and reporting on geotechnical findings, and contributing to the analysis and interpretation of data.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, and marine crew to achieve project objectives.
- Ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment at sea.
- Assisting in the planning and execution of offshore projects, including logistics, equipment preparation, and deployment.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this role will have the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Geotechnical Field Technician or a similar role on an offshore vessel.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and electrical troubleshooting, with a strong understanding of geotechnical equipment and tools.
- A degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Marine Science, or a related field.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively document and report on geotechnical findings.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and adapt to the challenging conditions of working at sea.
- A valid seafarer's medical certificate and survival at sea training certificate would be advantageous.
