Position Title: College Readiness Coach
Organization: Take Stock in Children, Palm Beach County
Location: Palm Beach County, Florida
Hours: Full-Time (40 hours/week), salaried, nonexempt

Position Overview:
The College Readiness Coach reports to the Manager of Student Success and Alumni Initiatives . The coach is critical in ensuring Take Stock in Children students are successfully prepared to transition from high school to post-secondary education. Working closely with students, families, and mentors, the College Readiness Coach provides personalized guidance and support in academic planning, college application processes, scholarship opportunities, and career exploration. This role also focuses on equipping students with the skills and resources needed to thrive in college as first-generation students.
Individualized Student Support :
● Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with students to assess academic progress and college readiness.
● Develop and monitor individualized college preparation plans for each student. Identify potential problems and intervene when necessary to ensure student success. This may include direct intervention with students and/or parents, mentors, school employees (guidance counselors, teachers), etc.
● Monitor student/mentor session effectiveness and communicate directly with the Mentor Manager(s) to resolve any issues.
College & Career Preparation :
● Assist students with college applications, including essay writing, financial aid (FAFSA), and scholarship applications.
● Facilitate workshops on college readiness topics such as time management, study skills, and navigating campus resources.
● Support career exploration by connecting students with job shadowing, internships, and career-focused resources.
Program Collaboration :
● Responsible for caseloads of middle school through high school students and assist students with all aspects of college readiness and preparation
● Support TSIC events and initiatives as needed.
● Track key milestones, including application deadlines and scholarship submissions.
● Be available for late afternoon and early evening hours as needed.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, social work, or a related field.
● Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Constant Contact, and Facebook Groups.
● Preferred: Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
● Experience working with youth, particularly first-generation or underserved students.
● Knowledge of college admissions, financial aid, and scholarship processes.
● Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
● Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, during event periods.
● Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel within Palm Beach County.
● Passion for supporting youth, with an understanding of the challenges faced by low-income students and their families.
