Associate Professor - Professor - Welding

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (salary range - $52,195.36 - $61,167.00 annually):
SCOPE OF WORK: To educate students in welding technology within the Welding Department as outlined in a prescribed program curriculum and to assist in departmental initiatives and/or institutional activities that advance the mission of the college. This position shall report to the Chairperson of the Welding Department.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Teaches assigned academic course schedule in a classroom, laboratory, and/or clinic/field experience setting as appropriate for the Welding program.
- Demonstrates teaching effectiveness through the development of instructional materials that comply with established course content, integrate theory with applications, clearly define course goals, observe program and institutional accreditations standards, promote critical thinking and life skills, and respond to diverse academic needs.
- Maintains accessibility and availability to assist students with their learning needs and advises individuals or groups of students in academic matters.
- Supervises student learning activities and academic progress and maintains accurate records of student progress and accomplishments.
- Coordinates departmental activities and operations by developing credit and non-credit programs and/or courses, sharing teaching and learning methodologies with peers, and cultivating collaborative relationships with business and industry.
- Assists in the planning, development, and implementation of college sponsored recruitment and retention activities.
- Engages in professional activities related to the area of teaching specialization.
- Remains technologically and pedagogically current within the specialized field through participation in relevant professional associations.
- Observes all academic policies and procedures and demonstrates ethical and professional behavior.
- Serves on and leads college or system committees, as assigned.
- Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in engineering or technical education. Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Education shall require an Associate’s degree in a subject area closely related to the teaching assignment.
Experience: Six (6) years of teaching experience in welding, two years of which shall have been in the supervision of students or personnel in educational activities or academic program administration.
OR
Education: Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in engineering or technical education.
Experience: Eight (8) years of teaching experience in welding, two years of which shall have been in the supervision of students or personnel in educational activities or academic program administration.
License/Certification: Must hold and maintain a current American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector’s License.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Thorough knowledge of teaching methods, use of instructional materials and the organization of subject matter into effective teaching units in technology or other specialized programs. Ability to evaluate student progress and provide guidance to both students and instructors.

- Supervises student learning activities and academic progress.
- Coordinates and leads departmental activities and operations.
- Provides leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of college sponsored recruitment and retention activities.
- Engages in professional activities related to the area of teaching specialization.
- Remains technologically and pedagogically current within the specialized field of instruction.
- Observes all academic policies and procedures and demonstrates ethical and professional behavior.
- Complies with all system, college, campus, state and federal rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in engineering, technical education, or other related field.
Experience: Seven (7) years of teaching experience in welding or related field, two years of which shall have been in the supervision of students or personnel in educational activities or academic program administration.
License/Certification: Must either currently hold or be capable of passing welder certifications tests.
