We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join a diverse team of seasoned legal, compliance, and privacy professionals in the U.S., as well as a global network of legal and compliance teammates. Based in the U.S., this role will report to the Lead Commercial and Product Counsel for the Americas region (based in Sunnyvale, CA) and work closely with colleagues across the globe.
The Legal Counsel will serve as both commercial and product counsel, advising business and other partner teams in product, technology, risk management, and other functions. As a strategic business partner, they will play a key role from product inception to launch, providing guidance on contract structures and product design to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, while meeting customers' needs. Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating commercial contracts with merchants, partners, and vendors, drafting and maintaining product terms and conditions, and driving regulatory compliance analyses for new products and services.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to support a diverse portfolio of fintech products and service offerings, contribute to complex legal and regulatory matters, and help pave a sustainable path for business growth. The position will be based out of our Sunnyvale or New York office.
Job Requirements :
- Juris Doctor, Master of Laws, or equivalent, in good standing and qualified to practice law in the United States, ideally NY or CA.
- At least 3 years of experience as a qualified attorney, preferably in the financial services industry, working in a reputable law firm and/or in-house company.
- Strong understanding of commercial contracts and the ability to negotiate with local and international partners.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey legal advice across diverse teams and cultures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work in a fast-paced environment, and inspire confidence in customers or internal partners.
- Strong sense of ownership in supporting the business’s commercial objectives, with a keen interest in staying up to speed on business and technological developments related to global payments, financial services, and fintech industries.
- Growth mindset with an eagerness to grow, learn, and take on new challenges.
- Proficiency in Mandarin is strongly preferred.
