Join us for a joy-filled summer in a mission-driven environment! As Assistant Camp Director, you’ll work closely and collaborate with the Camp Director to oversee daily camp operations, support staff, and ensure a joyful, safe, and inclusive experience for all campers. Serving as the “manager on duty” when necessary, you’ll balance camper safety, program quality, and a positive camp environment while building strong relationships with families and the camp team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals eager to develop their leadership and management skills in a hands-on, dynamic setting. This is a seasonal role; Assistant Camp Directors work Monday - Friday (5 days per week), and can work either full-time or part-time hours depending on the needs of each camp location. Core Responsibilities Oversee Daily Camp Operations:
Collaborate closely with the Camp Director to ensure a safe, joy-filled program. Use creative problem-solving to prioritize daily tasks effectively and maintain camper safety. Act as the “manager on duty” in the Camp Director’s absence, supporting a seamless camp experience. Own daily operational and administrative tasks to ensure smooth program execution. Perform keyholder duties, handling opening and closing procedures as scheduled.
Provide Exceptional Customer Service:
Communicate with families about camper experiences and coach staff on effective, professional communication. Address escalated concerns, assisting staff as needed to ensure positive resolutions. Create a safe, fun, and engaging environment by balancing camper safety, operational needs, and staff support.
Collaborate in Team Management and Staff Support:
Support the Camp Director in leading and coaching the camp team, with direct supervision of Extended Care staff. Facilitate dialogue among diverse groups, promoting understanding and collaboration.
Support Camp Programming and Rotations:
Assist with managing camp rotations and cover duties as needed. Facilitate check-in/check-out procedures for efficient and accurate attendance tracking. Ensure high-quality implementation of Galileo curriculum, providing timely feedback to instructors.
Manage Extended Care Program:
Independently direct the Extended Care program that is attended by campers before and after standard camp hours. Manage and plan activities, training and execution of camp programming.

Minimum Requirements: 2+ years of work experience in K-8 youth programming, education, or a combination of relevant education and work experience. 1+ years of demonstrated leadership experience; supervisor experience is preferred. Experience caring for, supervising, coaching, and/or mentoring children in groups of 15+. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus, but not required. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while working with a sense of urgency and enthusiasm. Valid CPR/First Aid certification OR ability to become certified prior to the start of camp.
