A sophisticated and fast-paced single family office is seeking an experienced Senior Controller to oversee financial reporting and controls across a complex multi-entity structure. The office manages a multibillion-dollar portfolio, including trusts, foundations, and operating entities. This is a hands-on leadership role reporting to the CFO, requiring exceptional technical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate across internal teams and external advisors.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong single family office (or similar) experience. While not a C-suite title, this is a critical, hands-on role—managing the accounting function and team—and serving as a key leadership partner to the CFO, enabling them to focus on more strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee timely and accurate financial statements, cash flow reports, and investment summaries
• Manage accounting across trusts, partnerships, and foundations
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis
• Coordinate with tax advisors on projections, filings, and compliance
• Implement and maintain strong internal controls and process improvements
• Supervise a small, high-performing accounting team
• Liaise with legal, tax, and investment advisors across all family entities
• Support audits, GL system upgrades, and financial systems like Sage and Addepar
• Maintain risk and insurance oversight; manage payroll and benefit support for household staff
• Handle special projects and ad hoc analysis for CFO and Principals

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s and CPA preferred
• 20+ years’ experience, ideally in a family office or complex private enterprise
• Strong GAAP knowledge, multi-entity experience, and hands-on financial systems expertise
• Hands-on with financial systems and reconciliations; Addepar or similar platform experience a plus
• Familiarity with alternatives, fund structures, and performance/fee tracking
• Tech-savvy and highly organized with strong leadership and communication skills
• Discreet, trustworthy, and thrives in a high-performance, service-driven environment
