District: Huron Valley Schools POSITION DESCRIPTION Huron Valley Schools is seeking an Associate Director who values collaboration and is well versed in best practices within special education. This individual will demonstrate success in building relationships, supporting special education programming and in building futures one student at a time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in special education or related field Certification as a teacher in the State of Michigan with endorsement in special education and or approval in related fields such as school social work or school psychology. Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience servicing students with disabilities in various settings. Eligible for, or in the process of becoming eligible for State of Michigan approval as a Supervisor or Director of Special Education. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and confidentially with general and special education teachers, administrators, parents and support staff members. Certified CPI instructor, or willingness to become certified to assist in teaching. Evidence of demonstrated ability to work with high stress situations and have a strong ability to seek creative solutions. Evidence of strong written and communications skills to lend toward solution seeking with staff, parents and advocates on behalf of students and the district. Proven track record of leadership, seeking solutions, being collaborative and working well with colleagues and peers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Support the Executive Director in any and all areas as designated for the success of the Student Services Department including instructional vision and maintaining fiscal responsibility. Support the Executive Director with engaging District Stakeholders through a clear implementation plan and five year Strategic Plan for the Student Services Department focused upon Pre-K through Adult Services. Support the Executive Director with the overall evaluation of Student Support Services personnel, ensuring compliance and best practices for supporting student achievement outcomes. Frequent review, analysis and leadership based upon state and local assessment data trends, annually providing a review to the TLT department and the Superintendent to ensure student achievement is a paramount focus and vision for HVS. Engage in professional learning that enhances district operations in terms of Special Education Services. Support district wide professional learning for ancillary staff and all professional staff related to students with disabilities. Collaborate on the identification, programming, and supervision of ESY students. Manage complex student referrals and facilitate building team support. Lead and monitor student health services within the district, including CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training. Support the Executive Director with IEP/504 processes, ensuring compliance and best practices. This includes the establishment of clear and concise processes for student identification, data collection and screening processes. Schedule and facilitate (MS/HS/ATS) TC/RR (Team Collaboration/Review and Revise) meetings. Engage with building teams to support students with heightened complexity or needs. Support the management of any State or Office of Civil Rights Complaints related to Student Support Services. Responsible for supporting legal matters related to Student Support Services, ensuring compliance with all federal and state laws. Provide leadership in hiring, evaluating, and supporting key staff positions (SLP, PSY, ATS teachers). Co-lead NEO (New Employee Orientation) training sessions. Lead the transition audit process for students. Support staff and teams when dealing with complaints or due process cases. Support (MS/HS/ATS) TC/RR (Team Collaboration/Review and Revise) meetings. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Master's Degree or higher. LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to speak and write effectively. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
