The mission of the Chicago College of Performing Arts is to graduate students seeking a career in music, education, theatre, or arts administration, who are confident, passionate, knowledgeable, and capable of functioning in the professional arena, and who are dedicated to the practice of art to serve the cause of human dignity and to effect positive change in their communities.
This position entails the following responsibilities:
Administrative oversight of the CCPA Vocal Ensemble Course, ENS 201, including syllabus construction, repertoire selection, and communications with students and support staff via Blackboard and email; Conducting the CCPA Vocal Ensemble, which rehearses for 1.5 hours on a semiweekly basis (Tuesdays & Thursdays from 4:15PM-5:45PM); Organizing cyclical programming to appropriately integrate classical voice performance majors (housed within the CCPA Music Conservatory), music education students with a vocal emphasis (housed within the CCPA Interdisciplinary Conservatory), and musical theatre and acting majors (housed within the CCPA Theatre Conservatory), culminating in at least two performances/semester in the presentation of diverse repertoire representative of the enrolled student demographics. All Artist-Teacher appointments are part-time positions with a cap of 20 total teaching hours per week.
Additional Duties:
Completion of state-mandated annual training modules, including Title IX, Bystander, and Cybersecurity training. Timely attendance reporting and grade submission. Clear and timely communications. Consistent usage of Roosevelt University email address (to be assigned upon onboarding). Submission of a course syllabus each semester (university-mandated template will be provided) documenting all policies, expectations, procedures, and grading criteria. Active engagement toward student recruitment as a partner to studio teachers across all three CCPA conservatories (Music, Interdisciplinary, Theatre). Compensation:
$100/hour flat-rate for all teaching ($4200/semester)
$1250 annual administrative stipend
