College of Alameda

Laney College
Laney College, in the heart of vibrant, multicultural downtown Oakland, features the cosmopolitan atmosphere and human energy of a big-city university. Laney is adjacent to the Oakland Museum of California, blocks from historic Chinatown and a pleasant stroll from Lake Merritt.
Since 1948, Laney has provided educational opportunities to students throughout the East Bay and beyond. Serving approximately 14,000 students each semester, Laney reflects the incredible diversity of the community that surrounds it and provides opportunities to traditionally underserved populations. Dozens of languages are spoken on Laney’s campus each day.
The school boasts a proven track record of success with exceptional educational programs. Merritt College
Merritt College is a public, comprehensive, two-year college, maintained by the Peralta Community College District in Alameda County. With a comprehensive day and evening program of transfer, technical, occupational and basic skills education, the College is committed to meeting the educational needs of the diverse student population it serves.

Berkeley City College
Berkeley City College is just blocks from the University of California – Berkeley. The energetic new urban campus stands on the cutting edge of community college education. University preparation and occupational training classes form the core of the Berkeley City College curriculum, which also features model programs in fields as diverse as American Sign Language, Biotechnology, and Multimedia.
The new campus is located in downtown Berkeley, and houses state-of-the-art facilities assuring that the college meets the educational needs of students and the community. With the opening of the new facility, Berkeley City College is significantly expanding educational programs at the college and increasing student enrollment and community participation in college activities.

Compensation: Ranges from $74.53 - $124.41/hour. Salary placement based on education, experience and other provisions outlined in the District's agreement with the Peralta Federation of Teachers.

Job Description Summary
Duties & Responsibilities: The Peralta Community College District invites applications for our Temporary, Part-Time Faculty pool in the following discipline:
MEXICAN/LATIN AMERICAN STUDIES
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Chicano Studies, Latin American Studies, Mexican American Studies OR a Master’s with an emphasis in one of these areas.
- May submit a fully satisfied lifetime California Community College Instructor Credential authorizing service to teach courses in Ethnic Studies.
- The equivalent qualifications. (Candidates who claim equivalency must provide conclusive evidence, as clear and reliable on the college transcripts as required on the District Equivalency Application Form. Refer to the Equivalency Procedures below. This is not a process to waive the minimum qualifications.)
- Applicant must have demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college staff, faculty, and students.
