Overview
STV is seeking a Bid Director to work with our commercial project management team. This position is hybrid (3 days in office) and can be located within a commutable distance of one of our major U.S. offices. The role requires comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of alternative delivery methods for Major Projects, including engineering, contracts, risk management, schedule development, subconsultant procurement, resource planning, cost estimating, controls, and reporting methodologies to ensure accurate bid preparation.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Design-Build Director and Regional Director to identify Major Project bids.
- Develop strategy, schedule, and resource requirements for bids, ensuring adherence to Gateway processes and obtaining necessary approvals.
- Work with Project Manager and Commercial Manager to establish the Design Delivery plan, including scope, drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Review Prime Agreement General Requirements and ensure the bid accounts for these in terms of finances and schedule.
- Oversee preparation of resource-loaded Design Schedule, coordinating with the Contractor’s construction schedule.
- Collaborate with Procurement and Project Managers to develop and oversee procurement strategies, ensuring accurate budgets and exclusions.
- Develop auditable fee estimates for self-delivered design, ensuring scope and schedule are incorporated.
- Conduct Risk and Opportunity Workshops, incorporating findings into bids.
- Establish Project Organagram, Design Work Plan, and BIM Execution Plan, ensuring they are included in the bid.
- Support development of Alternative Technical Concepts, considering risks and commercial opportunities.
- Prepare Tender Summary Sheet and Offer letter, including scope, schedule, clarifications, and exclusions.
- Maintain bid database for KPI tracking.
Requirements
- Minimum 20 years of experience in related fields.
- Strong background in alternative delivery, understanding contractor methods, contract management, and managing final design and commercial aspects.
- Technical expertise in commercial, contract, and risk management.
- Experience with large engineering and construction projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to solve problems independently and operate efficiently.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or related discipline.
- Membership in relevant professional bodies.
Compensation Range
$175,410.26 - $233,880.34
