JOB SUMMARY Serve as the Strategic EHS Leader for Blue Bird and leads EHS activities and team members in multiple locations (Georgia & Ohio) with the largest focus being on efforts and implementation towards ISO 45001 certification. Act as a key leader among the Blue Bird Operations team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Direct the Environmental Health, Safety and Security compliance operations and staff to ensure that EHS vision, goals and strategies are effectively developed, communicated and executed throughout all areas of Blue Bird. Continue implementation of company-safety health and environmental programs and manuals, along with function-specific safety programs and manual development, including safety audits, ergonomic, workers compensation, emergency response and subcontractor management. Achieve ISO 45001 certification by end of 2026 as per EHS roadmap. Plan, implement, and oversee programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths and regulatory risk. Monitor and audit facilities to detect existing or potential accident, compliance risks, and health hazards. Coordinate business, safety and compliance programs, training, licensing and initiatives to include but not limited to: OSHA, EPA, DHS, DOT, and Blue Bird requirements. Direct accident and incident investigations and documentation, insurance reporting and coordination of post-accident /incident drug and alcohol screenings. Track leading indicators and industry trends and implement corrective and preventive programs and actions. Manage, mentor, train, provide performance feedback and assign duties to direct reports to ensure productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES FOR SUCCESS Strong track record of building partnerships with manufacturing and warehouse leaders implementing progressive safety and environmental initiatives. Working knowledge of legislation that may affect safety, health or environmental situations and policies/practices, including any laws and regulations. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written), problem solving, and analytical skills. BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Bachelor of Science Degree required (Occupational Safety, Health, Environment or Compliance preferred. Other Bachelor's of Science majors accepted with combination of relevant certifications). Minimum of 10 years of operations, manufacturing and/or industrial business experience. Minimum of 10 years of regulatory compliance, environmental, health, and occupational safety experience and a strong track record of improving safety performance. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment leading safety and compliance. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE ISO 45001 experience, internal auditor experience, preferred.
