Bonita Fierce Candles is looking for a Production Assistant to join our creative, Latinx candle start-up! We are excited to hire a member of our team that will work part-time at 8-20 hours per week. If you enjoy making brand products and working independently with repetitive tasks, this role could be a great fit for you!
No experience in candle-making required! We are dedicated to creating a comfortable, fun, inclusive workplace for our employees. All candles are designed, produced, and shipped out of our residential studio space in Islip Terrace, NY (on-site). Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Learning the candle making process
- Assist with candle production and hand pouring candles
- Loading wax melter with wax up to 200lbs/day
- Preparing candle jars and tins, wicking and setting wicks
- Measuring and mixing fragrance oils for candle making
- Meticulously cleaning and labeling candles
- Keeping the workspace clean, tidy, and organized at the end of every workday
- Labeling and packaging candles into product boxes
- Assist with packing and shipping orders, as needed
- Building boxes to prepare candles for shipment
- Keeping stock organized and easily accessible for shipping
- Not sensitive to working with/around strong scents
- Must have the ability to lift 50lbs
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time
- Must have the ability to maintain focus while performing repetitive tasks for long periods of time
- Must have a strong sense of attention to detail with an ability to learn quickly
- Must have the ability to take direction with strong problem-solving skills
- Previous candle-making experience is not required; however, experience in food preparation, service industry, or other manual labor positions is ideal
- Has reliable transportation to and from our candle studio in Islip Terrace, NY
- Excited to tackle the challenges of a small business
- Comfortable on camera for social media posts
- Reliable and has a great work ethic
- Cares strongly about aesthetics and can demonstrate this through their work
- Organized, good at multitasking, self-sufficient, and self-motivated to perform well
- Strong communication skills
- Compensation is $18/hour (Part-Time).
- Applicants must have US work authorization.
- Must be 18 years old or older.
- 8-20 hours a week (hours vary based on business demand).
- Start Date: March 2025
- Must be available to work 2-3 times per week with availability Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm.
- Must work on-site at our residential candle studio in Islip Terrace, NY.
