Hospital Laboratory Manager Job Summary: The Laboratory Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the overall operation of laboratory services. Responsibilities include: Ensuring that lab services are of the best quality, cost-contained, and done in an expeditious manner. Training or supervising training of other lab staff and Point of Care (POCT) operators to ensure competency. Participating in planning services for other divisions within the facility as it relates to laboratory services and patient care. Evaluating quality improvement activities and quality assurance statistics and modifying manuals as needed for effectiveness. Enforcing safety procedures and consulting with other supervisors about these issues. Consulting with local and national regulatory agencies to ensure compliance. Planning workload distribution and making schedules. Supervising the purchase of supplies and maintaining equipment inventory. Evaluating staff performance. Minimum Requirements: Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology (MT) Licenses/Certification:
Current certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP) or equivalent. Experience:
Two years' acute care facility experience in laboratory services. Experience in regulatory and accreditation of lab operations.
