Job Summary: Reporting directly to the MRI Chief Technologist, the MRI Technologist performs a variety of MRI imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Interacts with the Radiologist and patients to ensure successful accomplishment of MRI imaging. Participates in QA activities.
Job Functions 1. Responsible for care and safety of patients in the Magnetic Environment. 2. Performs the highest quality of imaging consistent with the ordered exam. 3. Assesses the patient's condition during the exam and notifies the Radiologist of any changes. 4. Judicially uses contrast material. 5. Understands the proper use of all equipment pertinent to the MRI department. 6. Works under the direction of a Radiologist. 7. Completes all aspects of film archival prior to the Radiologists review. 8. Communicates with Radiologist, front desk staff and other hospital departments. 9. Reports equipment problems to the MRI Chief Technologist. 10. Completes all documentation of appropriate paperwork. 11. Maintains the upkeep of the reading room and workstations. 12. Acts as a preceptor for new employees. 13. Trains students, interns, and externs, as needed. 14. Provides basic patient education skills. 15. Supports the MRI Chief Technologist with strategic development of MRI services to met the changing needs of our customers and ensure continued growth of services. 16. Works in accordance with JCAHO standards and protocols, state and federal regulations. 17. Complies with departmental and hospital policy and procedures. 18. Ensures compliance with patient quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups ranging from neonate to geriatric. 19. Keeps abreast of latest trends in MRI. 20. Assists in the evaluation of new imaging equipment, as needed. 21. Maintains standards of performance. 22. Interacts professionally with patients, vendors, co-workers, and medical staff. 23. Promotes Service Excellence. Skills: - Must have IV skills and proficiency. - Strong communication and customer service skills. - Must be computer proficient including PACS and RIS. - Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate in English. - Ability to maintain confidential information required
Education: Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology or Graduate of approved school of MRI accredited by ARRT
