Position Description andResponsibilities
Cleary Universityinvitescandidates to apply foracontractpositionas Information TechnologySubject Matter Experts(SMEs). The academic team at Cleary University seeks dynamic student-focused expertspossessing a successful academic and professional record of championing a strong, vibrant, and relevant undergraduate educational experiencesof exceptional quality.In particular, theInformation TechnologySMEswill possess expertise and professional experience inone of the following four major areas (i.e.,Programming, Data Structures/Data Base, Systems Networking, or IT Operations) with detailed knowledge in one or more of their key domains:
• Programming
oPython programming
oApplication development processes, tools, and techniques
oUser interface design
• Data Structures/Data Base
oFoundational data structures
oData base design
oData base implementation
• Systems Networking
oNetworking and communications fundamentals
oNetwork structures
oNetwork operations and administration
oNetwork security
• IT Operations
oComputer operating systems
oUNIX/LINIX programming used to support IT operations
oSystems architecture and automation
oIT management
Fulfilling Cleary University's Mission to "provide an intimate and inclusive, student-centered business education that instills the values of The Cleary Mind™ in our community", theInformation TechnologySMEswork closely withleadership, faculty,and instructional design personnel to designandcreatecourses to be offered to our student populations, which are comprised of traditional students,student athletes, and returning adult students across a variety of instructional modalities.
TheInformation TechnologySMEscombine theirformal education, professional knowledge,and real-world experience todevelopcontent in the course design process.Working closely with academic leadership, faculty, and instructional designers, theInformation TechnologySMEsdesign,create,andselectone or more of the following program and course elements:
• Course materials (e.g.,textbooks, articles, videos, and online course curations).
• Course assignments(e.g.,discussion questions, presentations, applied analyses, and culminating projects).
• With the course offered online, course materials and assignments must also be accessible to students and faculty online.
With the assistance of an instructionaldesigner, theInformation TechnologySMEsensureClearystudentsexplore appropriate content and apply their knowledge tomeet course-level outcomesandcreate weekly learning objectives branched out from the main course objectives.TheInformation TechnologySMEswill consult withleadership,faculty,andinstructional designers to ensure consistencyof new development with existing Cleary programs and courses, along with key elements of Cleary's plan for the assessment of student learning.
The contract positionscan be remote or based in the Howell, MI, area.Applicationswill be reviewedimmediatelyupon receipt andwill continue to be accepted until thecontractpositions arefilled.
Expected Time Commitmentsand Potential Compensation
TheInformation TechnologySMEswill work directly with a Cleary instructional designer throughout the term of thecontractproject, including the following time commitmentsand potential compensation:
• Participate in a weekly meeting withaninstructionaldesigner to discussprogram andcourse development progress (ranging from4to8 weeks per course,with each meeting of30to60 minutesduration).
• Research,develop, or revisecourse materials (ranging from3to5 hourseach week).
• Participate inconsultation withleadership andfaculty(ranging1to2 hourstotal).
• Potential Compensation (depends on the SME contractspecifics)
oDesignanddevelopcontent fora course($600to $800 per course, depending on course lengthin the instructional session)
Qualifications
Qualificationsand Required Skills
• An earnedmaster's degreefrom an institutionally (i.e., regionally) accredited institution incomputer science,information technology, or a closely-related discipline.
• A minimum of five years ofcurrentand relevantprofessionalexperience inthe specific domain area (i.e.,Programming, Data Structures/Data Base, Systems Networking, or IT Operations).
• A minimum ofoneyear teaching experienceteachingundergraduate coursesat the university/college levelin the specific domain area.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and other software programs for communicating, creating, and maintaining spreadsheets, reports, and presentations.
Employment Classification:An Information TechnologySMEwill be acontractemployee.
