Virtus Healthcare Staffing seeks a dedicated Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our partner, a leading Level II Trauma Center hospital in Mission Viejo, CA. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced and skilled laboratory professional to lead and mentor a team while contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Lead the Way in Laboratory Services
As a Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will oversee and participate in the daily operations of the clinical laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely processing of laboratory specimens. You will provide guidance and mentorship to laboratory staff, maintain quality control standards, and contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the laboratory.
Responsibilities: Supervise and mentor laboratory staff, providing training and support. Oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to protocols. Perform various laboratory tests, including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank procedures. Analyze and interpret test results, ensuring accuracy and reliability. Maintain quality control standards and participate in proficiency testing programs. Implement and maintain laboratory safety protocols. Contribute to the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and technologies. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care. Manage laboratory inventory and supplies. Participate in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Science related field, or qualification for CLS licensure. One of the following California licenses upon hire:
California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License California Clinical Chemist Scientist License California Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License California Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License California Clinical Toxicologist Scientist License California Clinical Cytogeneticist Scientist License California Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist License California Clinical Hematology Scientist License California Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist License California Clinical Laboratory Scientist Biochemistry Special License
5 years of Clinical laboratory experience as a CLS in an acute care hospital setting as a Laboratory Generalist to include Blood Bank. Preferred Qualification:
