To provide an enjoyable and safe sporting experience for an assigned group of youngsters while they learn individual and team game skills, sportsmanship, and fair play.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Coach an assigned group of children emphasizing skill development, safety, fair play, sportsmanship, and fun.
- Preside over team activities including all scheduled team practices and games
- Be responsible for team equipment.
- Ensure equal playing time for all your players regardless of the score.
- Work to establish and improve team unity and spirit.
- Adhere to YMCA policies, objectives, and rules. Lead by example among team parents to support the responsibilities of the referee and league leadership.

Requirements:- Minimum 18 years of age and one year of coaching at any level preferred.
- A desire to work with children, preferably a parent with children enrolled in the program. Exude enthusiasm and positive spirit with a commitment to equal participation: “every child’s a winner…every child plays.”
- Exhibit patience, maturity, and dependability.
- Good organizational skills.
- Knowledge and skills in sports.
- Recognized by others for sound character and strong moral values and personal ethics.
- 4-8 hours per week – one for practice and one for games. However, there are training courses, clinics, and meetings that you may also be asked to attend, and/or other duties as asked – set up/clean up.
- Locations will vary. Some are owned and maintained by the YMCA and others are secured through a third party. Be responsible to ensure respect of property by all participants and report any obstacles that pose a substantial risk for the children.

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to: climb stairs, bend, stoop, push, squat, sit, crouch, walk, kneel, twist, pull, reach with hands, sit, stand for an extended period of time, run, throw, swim, Climb?ladders, walk, shovel snow, plow snow, have finger dexterity, grasp, talk, hear, have visual acuity, ?vocal projection and perform repetitive motions.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
- Must be alert at all times, keeping safety in mind. Must possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities?in order to?monitor environment and well-being of members.
- Must be capable of working under pressure in a somewhat disruptive?environment.
- May be required to sit, stand, or maintain physical activity for extended periods of time.
- Sufficient strength,?agility,?and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending upon the programs).
