Westonka High School is accepting applications for the position of Head Boys/Girls Wrestling Coach to begin November of 2025. Interested candidates should hold a passion for not only coaching at a high level, but creating a program culture that encompasses an approach to mentoring, educating and developing student athletes in all phases of their development through a comprehensive year round approach that doesn’t impact a multi-sport athlete in a negative way. Compensation: Salary Range - $5,100 - $5,800 - will be in accordance with Schedule B of the Teacher Master Agreement.
Qualifications: Candidates should possess a strong knowledge in the sport of wrestling displayed through a competitive and successful playing and or coaching background.
Preferred 3-5 years post graduate experience as head or assistant wrestling coach at the high school or collegiate level.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills required.
Extraordinary customer service skills and the ability to work well with all stakeholders within our school and activities department. Demonstrated ability to complete tasks under deadline. Demonstrated ability to set priorities in order to perform a high volume of detailed work. Flexibility and willingness to work as a team player.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Key Responsibilities: Organize a detailed plan for in-season and out of season player development to include daily practice plans and long term goal setting.
Strong motivation to promote our strength and conditioning program (in and out of season).
Provide the student-athletes with educational support and guidance.
A detailed plan for program fundraising to include short and long term program and facility goals.
Strong desire to help promote a high level of leadership in the program that helps create student-athletes that use great sportsmanship and leadership skills on and off the field.
Drive to perform community service along with team building events.
Provide college recruiting assistance and/or post-secondary planning.
Provide strong leadership and organization of the entire program to include clear communication and vision to all stakeholders (Asst Coaches, Athletes, Parents, etc.)
Program Administration: Oversee and maintain practice and game facilities after each practice/competition as well as program equipment and inventory.
Oversee all regular season competition scheduling as practice schedules.
Provide effective written and oral communication between student athletes, coaches, administration and athletic trainers regarding the status of injured players.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all athletic department staff members and other relevant school and community professionals.
Oversee coaching staff to include clear expectations and job descriptions as well as provide professional development learning opportunities for all coaches.
Maintain and upkeep of a clean and organized facility.
Physical Requirements: Frequently stand/walk for long periods of time.
Ability to engage in physically demanding activities, manual tasks required.
Occasionally perform - desk computer tasks, twist/bend/stoop/squat, push or pull objects that weigh up to 40 lbs.
Working Conditions: Work extended hours, evenings and weekends.
Ability to work irregular schedules and long hours are required.
