The Cashier is the custodian of a petty cash account for William & Mary and ensures timely receipt and deposit of the university's incoming revenues. This includes payments for student tuition and miscellaneous receipt billings. Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Provide front-line customer service in operating the teller window assisting students with questions regarding their e-bills and accounts; as well as departments.
- Reconcile individual drawer reports, prepare settlements, notify the manager of discrepancies; and accurately key deposits into the Cashiering system.
- Audit departmental deposits to verify the amounts, proper coding, and documentation.
- Process, load, and balance Express Card transfers to the student ID Express Card.
- Prepare journal vouchers to properly record transfers in Banner finance.
- Post payments to student accounts; for departments or grants; and prepare consolidated bank deposits.
- Travel to the VIMS campus once a week as needed to pick up deposits.
- Assist with auditing and maintaining records for campus Petty cash accounts.
