Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC)
to support our vibrant athletics program and student wellness initiatives. This multifaceted role involves delivering comprehensive medical care to student-athletes, overseeing daily athletic training operations, and the potential to teach courses in Sports Medicine and Physical Education if interested. Key Responsibilities Athletic Training & Sports Medicine Provide injury prevention, evaluation, emergency care, treatment, and rehabilitation for Middle and Upper School student-athletes. Serve as the primary liaison among student-athletes, families, physicians, the school nurse, coaching staff, and administration regarding injury status, treatment plans, and return-to-play decisions. Manage daily operations of the athletic training room, including inventory and equipment, in coordination with the Director of Athletics. Maintain accurate, confidential documentation of all injuries and treatments, in compliance with HIPAA and school policies. Coordinate and administer baseline concussion testing and follow-up care in accordance with school and state guidelines. Coordinate CPR/AED and First Aid training sessions for all coaching staff. Provide on-site athletic training coverage for all home practices and competitions, and select away games as needed. Refer athletes to outside physicians when necessary and guide them through return-to-play protocols. Ensure appropriate medical supplies and hydration equipment (e.g., water coolers, med kits, splints, ice, AED) are prepared and available for all practices, home contests, and select away events. Create and maintain a safe, welcoming, and organized athletic training room. Understand and support the specific health and developmental needs of adolescent female athletes, with a focus on injury prevention, mental health, and body confidence. Collaborate with the school nurse and wellness team to support holistic student wellness. Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Support school activities beyond athletics by participating in the wider school community, including occasional evening and weekend commitments. Teaching & Student Engagement (if interested, not mandatory) Teach courses in Sports Medicine and/or Physical Education, using inclusive, student-centered, and engaging instructional methods. Collaborate with the PE/Health & Wellness Department to develop curriculum that promotes lifelong fitness, wellness, and injury awareness. Foster student leadership and mentorship opportunities through programs such as a Student Athletic Training Club or wellness initiatives. Serve as a positive role model who embodies the values of sportsmanship, integrity, teamwork, and personal responsibility. Requirements Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field required. BOC (Board of Certification) certified and eligible for or holding current Maryland state licensure. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification. Preferred 3–5 years of professional experience in athletic training, ideally in a school or collegiate setting. Proficiency with electronic medical records systems and injury tracking software. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel with teams as needed. Preferred Attributes Previous experience working with middle and high school-aged students. Demonstrated understanding of the physical, emotional, and developmental needs of adolescent girls. Flexibility and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
