We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Construction Administrator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to ensure the successful execution of high-impact public projects while working in close collaboration with both the design team and contractors.
Position Overview:
As a Construction Administrator, you will play a key role in overseeing the construction phase of our projects, ensuring that contractors build in full accordance with the technical documents and maintaining the integrity of the architect’s design vision. You will be responsible for managing construction activities, reviewing submittals and change orders, maintaining meeting minutes, and resolving field issues in collaboration with the design team and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and coordinate on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with architectural and engineering designs, specifications, and technical documents.
- Enforce the integrity of the architect’s design throughout the construction process.
- Review, track, and process contractor submittals (shop drawings, material submittals, etc.) to ensure conformance with the project requirements.
- Review and process change orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract terms and conditions.
- Maintain and distribute meeting minutes for project-related meetings, including site meetings, design team meetings, and contractor coordination meetings.
- Address and resolve construction issues that arise in the field, collaborating with the design team and contractors to develop effective solutions.
- Ensure that the construction process adheres to established schedules and budgets, while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and provide reports on progress, quality, and any discrepancies with the design intent.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the project team and contractors on-site for construction-related matters.
- Assist in ensuring that all project documentation is accurate, organized, and up to date.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in construction administration, preferably in public sector projects.
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Must be able to read and understand construction drawings to interpret scope of work, identify issues in the field and ensure the construction is completed according to the documents.
- Experience working closely with contractors and construction teams to resolve issues in the field.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with the design team and other project stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam; experience with construction management software (e.g., Procore, E-Builder) is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have a reliable vehicle and be able to travel throughout the State of NJ.
