We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Cytology Supervisor to oversee our cytology laboratory operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising daily laboratory activities, ensuring the accuracy and quality of cytology specimens, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. The Cytology Supervisor will play a key role in enhancing laboratory workflow and ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities: Supervise and manage the daily operations of the cytology laboratory, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality performance. Oversee the preparation, evaluation, and interpretation of cytology specimens (e.g., Pap smears, fine needle aspirates, body fluids). Provide guidance and support to cytotechnologists and laboratory staff, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols. Review cytology slides for accurate and timely reporting of findings. Train and mentor new cytology staff, ensuring continuous education and competency in diagnostic procedures. Ensure the laboratory complies with CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory requirements. Participate in performance evaluations of laboratory staff and implement corrective actions as needed. Coordinate with pathologists and other medical professionals to ensure effective communication of cytology findings. Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting. Lead quality control and quality assurance programs to ensure high standards of accuracy and precision. Assist in the development and implementation of laboratory policies, procedures, and best practices. Prepare and maintain accurate laboratory records and reports. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or a related field. Certification as a Cytotechnologist (CT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent certification. At least 3-5 years of experience in cytology, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Extensive knowledge of cytology techniques, laboratory procedures, and diagnostic methods. Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, etc.) and laboratory accreditation requirements. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
