Mechanical Technologist-Developing

AtkinsRalis is currently looking for a Mechanical Technologist-Developing to join our engineering team in Kincardine, Ontario. Reporting to the Manager of Retube Tooling the Mechanical Technologist would support one of the various Refurbishment or New build projects on the Retube Tooling team.
Your role within the team:
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures and policies.
- Assist in assembly, repairing and maintaining of nuclear inspection or maintenance tooling and mockup equipment.
- Participate in tooling/equipment testing programs.
- Prepare route sheet traveller records and edit documents.
- Complete prioritized work requests on time.
- Become a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW).
- Travel to vendor and project sites if required (duration of assignments can vary).
- Support shift work (day/night), if required.
- Must be Team oriented with a demonstrated ability to work well with others and promote a positive work environment.
- Single point of contact and a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for specific tooling.
- Witness tool testing at Integration Facility and other vendors as required.
- Identify, report, contribute and obtain resolution for any deviations from the design requirements or testing criteria using Adverse Condition or Event Reports (ACERS).
- As an integral part of the Tooling Turnover process from Bruce Power to Shoreline Power Group, be accountable for accepting tooling based on pre-determined criteria.
- Assist in the development of the Comprehensive Work Packages.
- Accountable for weekly schedule updates.
- Provide engineering direction and support for each assigned toolset (applicable through testing, readiness, execution, post-use and assessment).
- Establish and maintain interfaces with other internal groups, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Maintain high standards related to final product quality.
- Identify continuous improvements to processes.
- Participate in meetings with other internal and external groups.
- Clearly communicate with the client to ensure accurate and comprehensive understanding of the tooling needs are understood.
- When assigned to shift crews, work in a team setting with Construction trades, Shift Management and Shift Engineers to track tool performance, troubleshoot problems, and provide direction to tooling maintenance crews.
- Prepare daily shift logs to track tool performance, summarize maintenance and document troubleshooting steps.

The ideal candidate:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- 1-3 years of related technical experience and a certificate of qualification from College of Trades and Apprenticeship.
- Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics preferred.
- Experience with hand tools and common shop equipment required.
- Knowledge of established engineering design principles and methods.
- Must be able to demonstrate manual skills and dexterity.
- Computer skills-Microsoft Word and Excel etc.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience an asset.
- Effective communication (oral and written) and organization skills are essential.
- Shift work during execution (phase 2).
- Security Clearance will be required.
