What You’ll Do

1. Report to the Vice President of Platform Engineering and participate in cross-team leadership activities within the wider Technology organization.
2. Manage and mentor leaders and individual contributors.
3. Contribute to the long-term strategy and vision of Platform Engineering and the SiriusXM technology strategy.
4. Build strong relationships with the company’s internal developers and their leaders to understand their needs and pain points.
5. Partner with Platform Engineering’s Product Management team to inform your team’s roadmaps.
6. Inspire and empower your teams in executing against an ambitious product and technical roadmap.
7. Provide detailed, constructive feedback to peers and direct reports through reviews of product development artifacts such as product briefs, technical designs, and ADRs.
8. Stay on the cutting edge of industry trends to identify new technologies and practices that could improve cloud usage at SiriusXM.
9. Serve as a primary point of contact for the company’s relationship with AWS.
10. Balance the priorities of diverse stakeholders including backend and client developers, Security, Operations, Data Scientists, and Finance.

What You’ll Need

1. 10+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or similar role, including at least 5 years in management.
2. 7+ years of hands-on experience architecting and deploying cloud-native applications on a public cloud provider, including at least 2 years on AWS.
3. Knowledge of foundational infrastructure concepts (e.g., IP networking, identity and access management, VPNs, DNS, firewalls, load balancing).
4. Strong understanding of cloud computing and execution of cloud initiatives in a large distributed organization.
5. Experience configuring and administering a large production AWS organization.
6. Extensive experience with infrastructure as code (IaC).
7. Experience supporting development, operations, and security teams, providing ongoing architecture and implementation support.
8. Ability to work through ambiguity and deliver clarity.
9. Passion for working with internal customers.
10. Fluency in at least two programming languages.

Extra Credit

1. Experience building an internal developer platform.
2. Experience with AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK).
3. AWS Solution Architect Professional Certification.
4. Fluency in TypeScript/Node.js.

At SiriusXM, we consider a wide range of factors for compensation, including your background and experience. The expected base salary range for this position is $153,500 to $280,000, depending on skills, qualifications, and experience. The role may also be eligible for discretionary incentives.
