Job Title: Scientific Director: Human Genetics/Genomics
Reports to: Vice President Preclinical Drug Discovery
Location: Los Angeles, CA or Princeton, NJ / currently hybrid

Our scientists collaborate with over 700 researchers globally to bridge the translational gap between academic and industrial research, aiming to expedite therapy development.
Job Role: CHDI Management seeks an experienced, innovative, and passionate drug discovery scientist to join the preclinical team as Science Director. You will develop and coordinate the strategy for human genetics, genomics, and genetic epidemiology in drug discovery. Responsibilities include:
- Participating in interdisciplinary teams to advance drug discovery campaigns.
- Identifying, evaluating, and partnering on relevant external programs and technologies.
- Coordination and oversight of a larger team of external experts and collaborators.
- Regular travel to CHDI offices and various CROs and academic partners.
Job Description:
- Provide expertise in human and medical genetics, integrating genetics with multi-dimensional phenotypic datasets.
- Advance the relationship between genes and human phenotypes related to Huntington disease.
- Identify allelic series of variants associated with HD clinical and molecular phenotypes.
- Investigate variant function to develop insights and candidate therapeutic modulation.
- Explore collaborations to expand CHDI’s human genetic investigations.
- Contribute human genetics expertise to CHDI’s Enroll Platform and collaborations.
- Mine large genetic epidemiological cohorts for insights into Huntington disease.
- Utilize genetic tools and approaches for biomarkers and therapeutic relevance.
- Analyze complex loci, haplotypes, and polygenic risk scores.
- Provide a human genetics perspective as part of a multi-disciplinary drug discovery team.
Job Requirements:
- Advanced Degree in genetics, epidemiology, medicine, or related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry or human genetics drug discovery.
- Demonstrated track record in genotype:phenotype studies.
- Proficiency in statistical genetics.
- Experience in genetic variant discovery and characterization.
- Experience with genetic approaches and analytical/computational tools.
- Experience in multi-disciplinary teams and cross-functional information utilization.
- Experience with contract research organizations and academic collaborators.
- Strategic thinking capabilities for innovation and drug discovery.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Salary: $120,000-220,000. Exact compensation will vary based on experience.
