We are seeking a strategic and hands-on
Director of Distribution & Logistics
to lead our high-volume, fast-paced distribution operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is responsible for driving operational excellence, optimizing logistics strategies, and leading a team of Distribution Center Managers across multiple locations. This is a key leadership position that plays a vital role in supporting our continued growth and commitment to exceptional service.
This position is located in Marshall, Minnesota. This is not a remote position.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership: Lead and manage all aspects of distribution and logistics operations across multiple retail locations and distribution centers in a manner that aligns with the Running culture. Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team. Inventory: Oversee inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, shipping, and receiving processes to ensure timely and accurate delivery to stores and customers. Ensure robust security and operation protocols minimizing inventory shrinkage and maintaining inventory integrity. Logistics: Develop and implement logistics strategies that support business growth, improve service levels, reduce costs, and foster a culture of continuous improvement focused on cost reduction, quality enhancement and process efficiency. Vendor Management: Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with service level agreements. Budget and Performance Management: Develop and execute the annual operating plan/budget for distribution facilities. Monitor performance, manage expenditures and variances, and control labor costs to ensure profitability. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and lead continuous improvement. Team Management & Development: Hire, lead, mentor, coach, develop and performance manage logistics and distribution team members. Work closely with distribution managers to oversee staffing, maintenance, recordkeeping, safety, security, services, and inventory control. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including purchasing, store operations, and IT to align logistics with business goals. Compliance: Ensure regulatory compliance related to transportation, warehousing, and workplace safety. Travel: Travel regularly to distribution centers, other business locations, and trade shows as needed. Other Duties as Assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred but not required with equivalent experience).
Experience
Minimum of 7 years in logistics, distribution, transportation, or supply chain management. Proven track-record of managing multi-site operations and leading large teams. Experience in retail logistics is a strong plus.
Skills & Competencies
Leadership & Team Development: Experience and integrity in hiring, mentoring, and managing high-performing teams. Inventory & Supply Chain Management: Deep understanding of inventory control, order fulfillment, and logistics workflows. Budgeting & Financial Acumen: Ability to develop and manage budgets, control costs, and analyze financial performance. Process Improvement: Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies. Technology Proficiency: Skilled in ERP, WMS, and TMS systems; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to influence and collaborate at all levels. Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of transportation, warehousing, and workplace safety regulations.
Working Conditions
Environment: Primarily based in an office setting with frequent visits to distribution centers and warehouse environments. Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, dust, and warehouse equipment is expected. Travel: Regular travel is required to visit distribution centers, attend leadership meetings, and participate in industry trade shows or training events. Physical Requirements: Occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting may be required during site visits or operational reviews. Must be able to navigate warehouse environments safely. Technology Use: Frequent use of computers, warehouse management systems (WMS), enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, and standard office equipment. Work Hours: Full-time position with flexibility required to support a multi-shift operation, including occasional evenings or weekends during peak periods or special projects.
Salary Range:
$140,000 – $180,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications) plus annual bonus
